Cannulated Screw Fixation for fractures of the Base of the Fifth Metatarsal

Abstract
Fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal bone generally referred to as a Jones fracture had been treated with a variety of treatment methods. We operated for 9 cases of fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal bone with 5.0mm partial
threaded
cannulated screw between January 1994 and September 1995.
@ES And the results were as follows;
@EN 1. The patient didn't need to admit because this operation did under the regional block anesthesia.
2. The operating time was short.
3. The bone union was complete and there are not postoperative complications because it may do not strip the soft tissue the fracture site.
4. The early weight-bearing is possible because of internal compression fixation.
So, we think the cannulated screw fixation is good operative method for the fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal.
